You might have a better chance at success if you join a club. They might have a designated trainer
to help newbies.

anyways, maybe there's no local club in your area. $4.00 per gallon and you need a decent sized
car or truck to haul all of that stuff...back and forth...back and forth just for 10 mins of stick time.

So if you livet in the country and bascailly have your own flying site.

get a sim and get a duraplane or spad type of model.
Don't worry the woods trainers looks like a T too 2-3 mistakes high.
A duraplane will look better after a crash landing...on grass or pavement.lol
