Default RE: Nitro Models Pitts-40 Special Design

Well I've been following this thread hoping to see a first flight report but due to bad weather for everyone else, i guess i'll go first....I purchased this model a couple weeks ago, and despite several problems, it went together alright. They sent me the decals and manual from the Ultimate 40. (So i now have a pitts with ultimate stickers on it! [8D]) I powered mine with a Thunder Tiger Pro 46 with Jtec Pitts muffler. I'll try and post some pics later tonight if possible. It was rather cold and windy here today, but i had to fly it or crash it one. The pitts actually has nice ground handling for such a small coupled plane. Mine required nearly full right aileron and 4 clicks of down trim to get her straight and true. The tt 46 is a monster in such a small plane. Its an absolute rocket!!! I have near max throws on mine and it may be too much depending on your flying skill. KEEP THIS IN MIND as it will snap very hard!!! Flying wide open and pulling up putting the sticks in the corners will let it tumble very tight and fast, BUT it will spin several more times after the sticks are released. so be a few mistakes high on your first few flights. This plane's small size doesn't fare so great on really windy days either. But all in all, its a great flier!!!! Much better and more relaxed than I had expected...i used to have a Global tequila sunrise 25 that I was initially gonna compare it too, but theres no comparison!!! (Thank God!) You'll need to keep quiet a bit of speed on when you bring it in for a landing, as it will tip stall in a heartbeat!!! I have 4 successful flights on mine so far and bring it in around 1/4 throttle till its right over the runway and then bleed it the rest of the way off for a nice 3 point landing. No bounced landings so far.....So, for $85 on the closeout price, i got one heck of a deal on this beast!!! Its one nice lookin plane too........I hope the weather clears soon for you guys, cause your in for a treat on this one!!!

Oh ya, be easy on the elevator when you take off so it desnt try and snap on you....I hate to keep rambling but I also need to stress that you LOCKTITE the small bolts and nuts on the struts. After my last time up, I looked my plane over and had one bolt about to fall out......So be sure and keep an eye on them......take care guys!
