RE: Steering Servo
Hitec makes none of JR's servos. Who do you claim is made by Hitec, enlighten me so I can avoid those.
I'm not bashing I am stating usage facts found by myself. I've owned all the ones I speak of and talk about. I mention i've heard good things about ACE and Futaba, but never used them.
Hitec are rubbish. Their customer service WAS great, however the problem steps in when they are failing so fast you need spares for the spares coming back in the mail. I've used a variety of there servos from Hitec, both analog to digital all with the same results, more headache than use. Their service was pleasant to me, just the frequency of my dealings became somewhat a job more than a hobby issue. I've also had problems with their digital line not centering, seems many others on many forums agree.
Airtronics is even worse. Their servos claim big numbers but they don't last very long. Best of all their service is not even existant. I tried sending a bad servo in and they fought for about a month with it being used in some Robot project not RC then finally repaired it, and had me pay the shipping to them and back. This is pitiful service. I sold the repaired servo immediately after I got it back. Their written letter stated they found a bad motor, and they were sorry. After fighting a month they admit to the problem and still had me pay shipping.
JR I've had 1 near new 650M fail, just stopped turning left as if the pot skipped a few teeth. Sent it in and without any call or anything I got a brand new in brand new packaging 650M. Quick turn around and very nice getting a no questions asked replacement. This is the only JR servo that has had issues with me in now 2 years. I prefer to run their digital 8800, 9000, and 9100 servo lines for their excessive power and under-rated speeds.
On a final note, good to see a hobby shop owner and dealer for the Hobby try to communicate in a 4th grade manner about an opinion on a forum. Hopefully this thread doesn't get spread to your dealers about your attitude. As I said these are my personal findings over many years in the hobby (1992-1998 then a hiatus until 2002, then I've been in since). This is my personal money being spent on these and my personal time spent dealing with the companies.
