Latex house paint wasn't made to be clearcoated !! even the polyurethane I have used will do funny things if it is put on too heavy per coat. A very light mist with any clear coat is the real key to success when it comes to latex paint.The water based minwax stuff will do the same thing. I don't think it really matters what you use as long as your applications are very very light (mist type) again latex is not made for clearcoating,so if you really are sceptical on it don't use it. If your really adventerous go out and throw a quart of gas on the outside of your house (just don't light a match or be smoking) and see what it does to the finish,that is if your house is painted. The gas will have no effect on the surface at all after it is dry and evaporated.
