Yes its free floating. Also has fantastic ground handling.
I try to barely even attach it to the rudder. They have an "L" to insert into the rudder but I dont like that. If the rudder is wide enough I make a loop in the spring wire and screw it on, but my absolute favorite way of attachment is to straighten the "L" and put it through a piece of fuel tubing, then a dot of CA on the bottom of the rudder to hold it on. This way a rough harrier landing or general "oops" that tears the tailwheel off or any bump (in a grass field) that stresses the tailwheel a lot, will not tear off rudder material or structure. Worse case is it tears the fuel tubing or if you only insert the spring a quarter inch or so into the tubing then it will twist around and the spring end will come out of the tubing.
