Same here, running 7.2v through motors designed for 3-4.5-6v... with the S&S boards being proportional you're not stuck on max power all the time, and even with a non-proportional type board tanks being slow (not top-speed all the time) it gives the motors a chance at life
At least the motors in the Tamiya dual-motor gearbox are replaceable, cheap and quite common.
