Default RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Hi folks,

Just a quick question , how low should a .72 idle ?? I purchased mine used and am having a little trouble keeping it running around 2000 rpms . It will idle all day around 2300 rpms . Should I reset the carb to the stock settings and start over or is this about normal ?? Running YS 20/20 Wildcat turning 9900 rpms with an APC 14x4W and thats set rich. It actually runs really well with 10% Omega also, about 9500 rpms , just can't get the idle any lower.

Andy
What is wrong with 2300 RPM for idle?

If that is where it runs well, give it what it wants!

Edited to add:

If you get the idle too low, you are much more likely to stall the engine at the MOST inappropriate time - like when you throttle up to go around again, because your approach was too high, and you have now passed up the end of the runway, with a ditch and some trees directly ahead.
(Not to say that anything like THAT has ever happened to ME, you understand....... [&o])
