If you pop the Kong in and it flies great you are fine. Over heating the motor weakens the magnets but that effect is instant. Also over heating the ESC could cause problems down the road but I think you will be ok. I run a Scorpion -6 V2 motor off my Align 35 ESC and have for a couple months now. I run 100% wide open and I am not r/c heli friendly to my Trex. I give a new definition to the expression "stick banger" as where I live it is windy and hard stick banging is just fun.
