Why can't you just bring down the pitch curve in the normal pitch curve settings? Example:
Norm ptich curve: 33 42.5 50 75 90

That would bring your top pitch down to something more acceptable, you can fiddle with the top 2 pitch curve settings in the normal mode to make your pitch curve anything you want. I do mine with the motor unhooked and just leave the pitch guage on and lower the settings to get my desired pitch range in normal mode.
