would it be any cheaper than an inboard?

I'm a huge fan of OB racing. The problem is there are not enough quality setups(OB) on the market. Graupner makes a couple, but they are very limited and perform poorly.
Outboards tend to be easier to setup, can be cheaper but suffer from performance.
What is your goal for this project. What is your expected top speed? How much money can you budget to hit these speeds?
