RE: first rc build
peterpella, I think you spoke more truth than fallacy, however I dont know where you get your experience with motors. I must have the most reliable 700 motor out there......by your data. I have about 40-50 runs in my 700sc, that by your estimates should be deadby now, especially when you add, I run it on 16 racing cells. Than throw in there, that I'll swamped this motor 7 times(at least). Heck I also run this boat over rocks(jet boat) constantly and have even had a midair crash with a 4x4 that destroyed the boat. This thing should be deader than dead. I had white smoke pour out of it about 15 runs ago. btw the 700sc is basically a cordite ss1(which is 12v) with bushings, probably still made by mabuchi.
Plain truth if you cool the brushes and the can you can safely run 16 cells, not in the 8.4v motor of course, but you can run an 8.4v motor on 12 cells.

speed-king- I hear the z-drive isnt really good for any kind of performance, it's more for scale, basically it's not meant for high rpms. I wont completely kill the idea, you could make something more scale-ish and accept some speed loss. Why not make a surface drive up parts yourself, if I can make one, anyone can.
