Default Running hot.

Is it harder to tune a gt2 rtr when it is 35-40 degrees outside? My truck likes to run around 250 degrees with the shell off when I'm not pushing the engine. As soon as i start pushing the engine at all the temp creeps towards 300f really fast. My idle seems good and i have plenty of blue smoke during acceleration. when i top out the engine ( for a 2-3 seconds ) i have a thin stream of whitish smoke. Should I make the engine richer or will the engine run cooler when it warms up outside ( air is less dense so I assume it will richen all of my settings a tad ). I am currently afraid to put the shell on because the engine will get less air for cooling (yes i cut a large hole out of the windshield).

If i do richen the settings should it be the high carb setting? I richened my low setting today ( to try and cool the engine some ) and i had to back the idle off some to compensate.

On the bright side the differential i replaced last night worked great. It was a bit stiff at first ( truck didn't want to roll well ) but after running it for a minute or so it loosened up and ran great.

Thanks as always.
