Hi Morgan
take a look on boats with z- drive, for example Marine MkII (
www.robbe.de ) or Shockwave from Proboat. These boats use simple z-drive systems with brush 550, 560, or 600 motor. If you have motor of that kind taken from buggy you can use it, but you have to choose the right prop.
A typical cheap, but quality z-drive is being produced by Robbe.
For example: Navy-Speed EM 540. This is high - performance drive system with 1.5:1 gear reduction for sport boats.
Set contents: RS 540 e motor, propeller shaft and universal joint.
Product number 4167.
If you want to buy only Z - drive, you can buy Z- drive with coupling with 42 mm diameter prop. Product number 4137.
