Default RE: Travelair 2000 Bipe Info

Mike,

Bill Northrop is definitely the man you'll want to talk to regarding the Travelaire 2000 bipe.

In the latter half of the 1960's, Bill was R/C Editor for Model Airplane News magazine, and during that period he published a wonderful feature article on his model design/build/fly of the Travellaire 2000. If I recall it was maybe about 55" span or so, for a .60-sized engine? But possibly it was larger?

In any event, the 2000 was an airplane that, to my eye, looked quite similar in outline to the Fokker D.VII of World War I fame! By chance does your model look a bit like a D.VII with two cockpits?

Bill later created MODEL BUILDER magazine (sadly, now defunct), and then some years later he created his plans service, which I believe offers his own designs going from wayyy back (perhaps including his '60's-era Travelaire?) plus many famous pre-war Old Time FF designs along with the scores of designs that appeared in MODEL BUILDER during the 1970's.

Bill is in the AMA's Hall of Fame, and for many good reasons. One that he is not often noted for, but for which I remember quite vividly through his magazine contributions, is his deep and abiding love of BIPLANES !!!

Best of luck with yours.
