RE: NiMH vs. Lipo
I replied to your thread last night before it dissapeared..
I have both Nimh and Lipo.. they're both good, well Nimh is good and lipo is great lol
You can still get good runtimes from nimh batteries as long as you get good ones, 4000+ mah rating.. If you go lipo you WILL need a charger that's specifically for lithium polymer batteries, preferably a charger that balances the cells as well.. Lipo cells get balanced individually due to how they're wired.. Lipo batteries can be dangerous if you don't watch what your doing. If you follow exactly what the manufacturer says then you'll be fine.. Some people have the idea that lipos are a crap shoot and it's a risk. Companies really wouldn't make stuff that doesn't work and is dangerous.. Lipos get great runtime, are able to supply high demanding motors with serious current and they don't fall off after charging from sitting.. Their worst enemy is heat and too much voltage and over discharging If you charge the batteries safely and have a low voltage cutoff so they dont get discharged past their minimum voltage rating , you'll have lots of enjoyment out of them. One good lipo battery can replace multiple nimh packs.
The only thing that comes into effect here is budget.. you say you're on a fairly strict budget... how strict? you have to price some things out and see what's in your price range..
hope this helps
