I have 3 of the later models and have been running them on 100% synthetic oil at a mix of about 20% without any major problems. I probably don't have as many hours on them as some people but have found that the synthetic is less "gummy" than castor so a prolonged idle time (like all winter) does not lead to a stuck engine.
