World Models 80" Extra
Modelflyer99 - I have the Fuji 50 in my Pitts. This was my first gas project and had many questions too.
It was a learning, but good experience. All the problems I encountered were operator related. I had the kill switch connected in reverse. :stupid: Could have been ugly. Then I wasn't knowledgeable about adjusting the carb on a gas engine so the settings were too rich out of the box and the engine would flood when trying to start. Once I got this stuff resolved The engine would start easily and run very well.
One last thing and I'm sure others will offer different opinions on this. I found it much better to go ahead and buy the Megatron starter by Sullivan. It's one heck of a starter, especially with 24 volt hook up using two 12 volt batteries. Sullivan just sent me the new upgraded switch to solve the welding problem in the original stock switch when using the 24 volt hook up. Good fix and nice of them to do so free of charge. Total cost around 200.00 for this starter and batteries. An engine with electronic ignition would have cost about the same as the engine and the starter set up. I have pretty much decided on a DA-50 for my W.M. Extra 300.
