Buying engines on E-bay is a crap shoot with the odds stacked against you.

That "great condition" engine has rusted bearings.

The "great compression" engine has a set of stripped cap screws.

The "like new" engine is missing a key part.

If you cannot afford the O.S. prices consider an engine from an alternative manufacturer.

There are many reasons I will no longer use EBay for anything. One main reason is that I just don't trust them. I got burned pretty bad with a sale on EBay (I sold something brand new and still in the box and wrappers, and got pretty well burned on it by not getting my money for over a month.. check's in the mail, oh, I thought I paid that, all the excuses in the world, then because I complained, I was given a label as a trouble-maker.. so no more Ebay for me).

The reasons above are typical in my book. I can get whatever I need from my LHS, Tower, or Horizon. Yep, I may pay full retail, but I have recourses in case something goes wrong. Buying on EBay gives you a 50-50 chance of getting screwed.
