Default RE: DA standoff for 28% Extra

ORIGINAL: pylon racer

Do I need 3" standoffs for a DA50 in the 28% Extra? How my clearance will that give me between the spinner and cowling?

Pete
Yes and no.

It's better to have 3" standoffs, but you can easily make 3/4" spacers to use with the 2 1/2" standoffs.

FYI when you buy a 1x2 or 1xanything at Home depot, the wood is actually 3/4" thick. So get a 1x2 oak plank, mark it into 1" squares and drill a 1/4" hole in each one, cut it up into squares and you have your 3/4" spacers. If you have a drill and a band saw the whole process takes anout 3 minutes and cost maybe $2.
