RE: .049 gas engine needed for the Guillows F4U-4 Corsair Balsa wood Giant
With a Guillows build, the individual subassemblies aren't hard to build. You will need to pay attention to the angles that the parts are set at when mounting the wing and tail planes. The engines' thrust angle is also important. On a model like this, keep it simple and set the angles as close to zero-zero-zero as you can. Mock up the radio gear locations to arrive at a workable CG. The trick is to not paint yourself into any corners and to have clever ways to execute some of the tasks. Try to think ahead and rehearse the next steps in the build mentally before you start hacking wood. Remember that anything you do wrong can be corrected, it's only balsa, not teak or cherry. The AP .061 is the way to go, easy to run and plenty of power with a 6x3 prop.
