An O.S. piston will not have any type of coating. It will just be smoothly-finished metal. If the liner was honed slightly, nothing may happen. Otherwise, you may see premature wear. It's also possible that the honing would have damaged the plating and will cause the liner to have its plating flake off after a while. Just use sufficient lubrication in the fuel and you should be OK.
