John
John,
We have created the confusion ourselves. Way, way back models were either powered with rubber bands or a gasoline (gas) engine. When the glow engine came along, it too was called a gas engine (as opposed to rubber) by some. A better description is spark or glow. Nitro is a misnomer since many areas of the world do not use nitromethane in glow engine fuel.
Also, some say that the diesel is not a diesel at all, but a compression ignition engine.
I know this may be confusing but you will eventually get used to the terminology.
