RE: FUNJET
tIANci,
Yeah, my posts are on the long side. Some times in there things could be thought to people who read the pages, well at least the ones who come to the pages to learn.
Since you and I have had a bunch of PMs and discussions, I know that you do have full grasp of what goes on. Your Funjet is setup nicely and your future goals are going to be winners.
How bad were your cuts?
Because of my mistake, I hurt my brother’s hand over 2 years ago and I still have not forgiven myself. It was not so serious but it could have turned out that way. I would have rather done it to my own hand than to his. So just before each lunch I really do go through the motions in my head and I do imagine that the prop is trying to hurt me. I then launch in a way that it can’t even if it tried.
I launch at maybe 30 degrees above the horizon as if I’m throwing a Javelin for maximum distance and the key is that I follow the motion through to get my hand out of the way (away and down).
Since I do that while at full throttle and with up elevator trim, heavy birds have no problem going right up, and that buys me enough time to get my hand back on the transmitter.

My current experimental bird at 2 ½ times stock weight (heaviest yet) cannot get airborne on 3S without wind. It is designed for 5S, 6S. So my 5S-5000 is going in for next flight. Power will be doubled and 7” prop will make enough thrust.
I guess we all like to experiment and find the limits….one way or another.
I’ll send you a link to a 2000W Stryker video. Hand launched by pilot without effort.
