Default RE: Black Magic VF3 Build Thread

Wendel,

Are you running the Perry Pump and tuned pipe? If so I started mine at 2 1/2 out on the top end and 2 turns on the low end. Once the engine is running on the top end correct I lower the throttle to around 1/8th. ( good high idel) Then start leaning in the low end till you hear a good firm 2 stroke sound. At this point you are going to be close. Idel the engine all the way down and let it run for about 15 seconds and then advance the throttle to full pretty fast but not just jamming the stick. If the engine transitions smooth then you have it right. If it sputters and then picks up you need to lean the low end needle about a 1/8th turn. Keep doing this till the engine goes to full throttle without any caughing. Then to make sure the engine is not lean in the mid range, bring the throttle up slowly till you get to half or a little above and let the engine run. If the engine is lean in the mid-range you will know pretty quick. I did this same tunning on my OS160 setup and it ran great. Once you set it you will never have to touch again (after the engine is broke in). If you are using the Mueller header and Aero Slave pipe follow the Jon Lowe Cookbook. Also use the coupler material from Rocket City Racing. You can put one of those couplers on it and forget it. Believe me I know and the hard way. I'll put the link on this post.
