Chris RC, some of the statements you mentioned aren't totally true and just because he is a beginner doesn't mean he should get an electric.
The models you listed lack quality and I think your wouldn't be very happy with them.

Are you looking for a setting scale (1/10, 1/8, 1/16) or a certain kind of vehicle (truck, car, buggy)?
I would give a little more advise if I had some more info.
