Default RE: ASP vs. OS

ORIGINAL: mjderstine

hey guys.

quick one.

i have been wanted to pick a 1.08 for a while and i ahve found two. One is an ASP and one is an OS.

what kinda advice do you have for each company? Is OS better?

-Thanks guys.

Undoubtedly, the OS is the higher quality engine, but the fly enters the ointment when comparing them, because each is designed for a different application than the other.

Need a high rpm capable engine? The OS is the only choice of the two. Need a low rpm torquer? Both are qualified, but I suspect that the ASP is slightly stronger on large props.

Obviously, the better built of the two would be the OS. But, sometimes "good enough" is good enough. Don't dismiss the ASP, especially if you can get it at a good price.

My ASP 1.08 (Redhead) was a great engine in its own right. It wasn't an OS, but nothing but an OS is.
