you can't "ball" it up inside the fuselage. Doing that is just as good as cutting the extra off. The wire needs to be extended to it's full length in order to be working properly. I you ball it up or double it back on its self then that effectively reduces the length of the wire. I just have the extra wire extend out the back of the plane.
