RE: FUNJET
Comparison of $95 MEGA 16/25/3 and 16/25/2.
16/25/3 can take about 50% more voltage (more cells) while the 16/25/2 can take about 50% more amps (larger cells).
16/25/3 60A is O.K.
16/25/2 90A is O.K.
Power increases as you go down the list:
16/25/3 3S 8X8
16/25/3 4S 7X7, 7X8
16/25/2 3S 7X7 90A 138 MPH prop pitch speed. (147 pitch speed with 7X8 not recommended)
16/25/3 5S
16/25/3 6S & {16/25/2 4S APC 4.7X4.25 35,000RPM 46/47A on 4S-3850 25C}
16/25/3 7S
16/25/2 5S APC 5X5 37980 RPM, 180MPH prop pitch speed, 81.5A (not maxed out yet), TP 5S-3300 25C(barely under sized).
So it can clearly be seen that without going to High voltage ESC and 8S the 16/25/2 is a superior motor for Funjet as compared to 16/25/3.
16/25/3 9S & 16/25/2 6S Will be running props that are too small in diameter for good performance.
So max performance is somewhere between 16/25/2 on 5S and 16/25/3 8S. It is better to error on side of caution by running a bigger prop to make sure that a drag wall is not reached as far as thrust from prop compared to drag of airframe at ultra high speed.
Maybe 16/25/2 2650KV on 5S and APC E 5.25X4.75 for all around fun, acceleration, climbing and speed (when very high speeds are intended). CC80A ESC with 120A burst will work.
