Get or borrow a copy of Harry Higgley's book on engines. I, like you, ventured into a Saito repair project with no previous experience. Higgley's book covers the Saito design very well. And for your particular issue, a bent pushrod, you should have no trouble with replacing it, (reinstalling the cam cover and cam gear while ensuring proper time alignment is a little dicey, but you'll get it!
