...sadly, the G45 and G62 come out so close in weight and dimensions once Ralph is done with em, the only reason to go with the 45 is to keep from having too much power and ripping some wings off, thus the throttle stick!!!
Agree about the G45 and G62 being so similar in size and weight, before or after conversion .... but the 45 is a sweetheart of an engine. Runs much smoother than the larger 62 thumper at any throttle setting. I wouldn't go out and buy a new 45 but I sure wouldn't sell one if I already had it. Would find the right home for it as this thread suggests. 80" warbirds would seem to be an excellent home for a lonesome G45.
So very true. By any of the nowadays standards the G45 is heavy but it is also a fantastic engine that I just don't have the heart to part with mine.
