Default RE: What effect does differencial oil have on the truck in motion?

ORIGINAL: rcnitrohead

The real use of different oil viscosities is to determine how much your diffs open up. For ex. With a lighter oil, when you spin out and keep on the gas, one wheel will spin faster than the other. The higher the oil viscosity, the less your diffs will open up. Oils range from 5,000WT to 70,000WT and there are even higher visosities for center diffs. Also, if you use a very small WT oil with a high power engine, you may experience torque steer when you accelerate because the diffs are opening up from normal acceleration due to the power of the engine. Tom.
So having a very think diff oil (lets say 70,000WT) would make the truck more controlable when sliding around corners and conserve engine power transfer to the wheels? Does it make the truck kind of like a tame animal around corners? You can get pretty technical with me if you want.
