Re-engine Byron reduction drive - help req'd
Hi Guys
Has anyone else sucessfully re-engined a Bryon Reduction Drive with a new CDI engine ?
My old Quadra 42 was very tired and hard to start so I thought I'd retrofit a new GFi 45cc with CDI ignition............I have several of these engines and they all run faultessly and have plenty of power (far more than the old Quadra 42), one flies my 30 lb Top Flight Thunderbolt......so lack of power is not the issue.
Anyway the problem is that the engine refuses to throttle up from idle on the reduction system (runs perfectly with a 20 x 10 bolted straight on) , it just stalls every time on throttle up on the reduction drive.
I have tried just about everything to no avail, I think that the CDI may be retarding the ignition too much to allow the throttle up...........I have attemped to retard the ignition by rotating the hall sensor a few degrees with no consistant results.....it throttles up to full noise occasionally but when returned to idle will not throttle up again.[:@]
I'm tearing my hair out................any thoughts
I have refurbed my Byron P51 but now cannot fly it until I get the engine going...........very frustrating!!![>:]
