When you power up the gyro in heading hold mode, are you seeing a solid red light on the gyro? If it's flashing instead, then the radio is sending a rudder command which could be caused by revo mix, trim or subtrim. I'm not a DX6 user, so I don't know if the radio has subtrim or not.
