Default RE: steel spur gear

ORIGINAL: RCCanuck

in order to run a steel spur you need a hardened clutchbell.....the spur is not designed to fail at all..thats false information.....the slipper clutch is designed to absorb the big shocks to the drivetrain....not a melting spurgear. I run steel in both Tmaxxs and have never had an issue at all......always set your mesh correctly and make sure your slipper is adjusted properly and you will never have a problem with plastic...until a small pebble or something jams in between it and clutchbell and then the spurgear will break teeth or melt....thats the advantage of running steel.
so, in this situation the spur gear will fail (per design) and save the rest of the drive train right?
