If the charge LED on the wall wart charger went out during the charge, then the battery is most likely not charged (as you say) and there was some sort of fault with the charger.

Only thing to do at this time is re-try the charge cycle to see if the LED on the RX side of the charger remains lit. If it goes out, then there is either something wrong with the charger or the wall socket you plugged it in to. If you can isolate it to the charger.. plug it into a different wall socket for instance.. and it still goes out, then see if you can get a replacement from wherever you bought the plane. If it's the wall socket, well, perhaps an electrician can help you out??
