Default RE: Static Balance of CG Questions

Thx Shubova - I'd like to see your bipe balance rig.

I have added 2 pieces of blue painter's tape to each wing side allowing for a range. Truth be known they've been that way for as long as I've had them. Just didn't know what "level" looked like. My Avistar, Sky Raider and 4*60 have been re-balanced. I'm embarrassed as to the amount of weight needed in all 3 cases. The good news is that none ended up taking a dirt nap before I had the chance to realign them.

The Avistar went for its new (balanced) maiden flight today. Just a tad of up elevator to keep her inverted. Inverted circles and figure 8's were pretty easy. Just a bit of right ail trim to keep her on a straight-n-level flight. A bit of aggressive glide angle with the throttle chopped. Hands off at mid-throttle flies straight-n-level. 3 or 4 intentional dead stick landings were a cinch. Now to learn some patterns - where's the ariste guide again?

Now to trim the rudder and make sure that the ole engine isn't aimed the wrong way - the Avistar has a clamp-like motor mount rather than using a threaded or thru-bolt arrange that positions the engine at a specific location.

Thanks to all for you helpful input.

Now if www.weather.com would quit forcasting 15-20 mph winds for the next several days ...
