RE: zdz 80 rv rpm in yak54
flew with the Vess, better pull out of hover, not what one would call a jump, but definitely controlable and accelerating. take off roll about the same, landing better due to increased "prop disc braking" of lower pitch. much higher rpm in vertical flight, chop to idle and catch the plane as it stops with just under 1/2 throttle, full throttle will then pull the plane up controlably. horizontal flight speed better as well, before anything above 1/4 throttle was too fast, now 1/3 throttle is ok. down lines have better braking now, also a neat sound as the engine gets "pushed".
