The voltage its showing is the current voltage of the battery.

Then I must have a faulty ac elite. The output voltages, near the end of the charging cycle, are reaching in excess of 1.5 volts per cell; As an example, 6.227 for a 4.8 volt pack, which would be 1.56 volts per cell; 11.8 for an 8 cell pack, 1.48 per cell.I thought nicds and nimhs would not exceed about 1.4 volts per cell.

When I check the pack's voltage, at the end of a charge, with my esv, the result is always less than the "output voltage" of the elite, always 5.7volts or less.

I also note the the output voltage at the start of a charge, is always well above the 1.1 volts/cell that ended the preceding discharge.

I find no explanation of the term in the instructions. It is displayed on one of the two "final data set" displays following charge (p. 21); On the other display, also in the lower right corner is a mAh figure labeled "measured capacity" (p.21). The displays following discharge are similar (p.20); One voltage reading called "output voltage", and the other a mAh "measured capacity" (p. 20).

When you cycle, that is, a discharge followed by a charge, at the end you get a window which shows the measured capacity, one from the discharge function, and a second from the charge function. The discharge is always less than the charge figure.

The instructions, p. 3 identify three voltages in the display: "Output voltage, peak and average battery voltages"... The structure seems to associate the battery only with peak and average, not with "output battery voltage".

"Input power" is that flowing into the unit either from an AC or DC source. (Pages 7-8).

However, charging shuts down if "battery voltage" reaches "1.9V per cell). (p. 11)

If the "output voltage" is that of the battery, what meaning or use does that have for us?
