I noticed the noise as well, though over time the noise does decrease as the teeth wear slightly.

if the noise is too much consider non-metal pinions.

I'm using one of these kimboroughs and it's quieter than using the steel pinion

Which pinion are you using? What are those pinion shaft sizes, 2mm? Do they come in smaller (lower number of teeth) sizes? Do they wear out quick? What pitch do we need for our rc18t's?
