I would NOT put that particular engine in the crockpot 'o antifreeze! You would end up with an all silver/natural metal engine...

I also know (found out the hard way ) that it will remove the black from the black case redheads...[:@]

It doesn't damage anodizing though unless you get it too hot.

Edit: I just wanted to add something...
While I have used this treatment on dozens of engines, I have only done a few engines that had some anodized parts, and they came out OK.
A friend did an old Webra Diesel with the red fins, and he got the antifreeze rather hot...steaming...and the anodizing came out a faded pink.[:'(]

If you can't stick your finger in the solution and keep it there for a few seconds without it burning you, then it's probably too hot.
