We used railroad style ties for ours, but you should be ok to use something like a metal rod with a solid washer style top cap (I know what I'm thinking, just dont know how to say it lol)...just place the rods every so often as to keep the pipe from flying away in the wind or moving when you run into it. The tile is pretty stout, but still easy enough to stab a spike thru.
