RE: H9 Sundowner
Well another one bites the dust. Flying great made a pitcure pass down runway at 3/4 throttle. I got to end of runway and went up to turn and make another pass and bang the motor dies. It just quit never missed a beat just died instantly. Well was headed up from not very high and just did not have speed enough to get turned. It was going down fast. Man they slow so quickly when deadsticks occur. Had it level and in great shape for landing. It went down behind some bushes and I could no longer see it. I have never went down to look at what was on the other side of the flying area and had i maybe i could have blind landed. It was about 5ft. further down than the flying area to the ground and when it went down behind weeds I thought it was on the ground and quit flying it. Found out the wheel pants dug in and ripped landing gear, flipped it over and landed upside down. Really not that bad could be fixed but this type plane I don't trust my fixing enough for it. So think I am going to take all the stuff and trade either for a gas motor or a different slower lol plane. I have no problem with flying this plane landings are fine takeoffs a breeze. Just the Saito motor once faulty part from Horizon that they won't stand behind and this time I think the line going to muffler came off. I have not removed cowl yet but looking thru cowl opening I saw the line that hooks to muffler against cowl. Don't know if it came off from impact or caused impact. Anyway time for this hot rod to slow down and go to a light wing load top wing something or another lol.
