The 2.5 emaxx with the stock titan motors (I own one) I feel doesn't get going fast enough to break much. I've never understood how people can half destroy their emaxx's using the titans. I never broke a single part. Now, when I upgraded to the s-600 motors (5-10 mph increase) I started breaking parts. 2 shock towers, 4 shock caps, 3 hinge pins, 1 bulk, and 1 set of a-arms. The weak points in the emaxx are really the suspension parts. The bulkheads, the shock towers, shock caps (super weak!), and the a-arms are all weak points. The stock hinge pins also bend easily if you crash into something. To make an emaxx really durable I would get the RPM shock towers, RPM a-arms, titanium hinge pins, aluminum bulks, and aluminum shock caps.
Costs:
$30- front and rear shock towers
$25- aluminum shock caps
$60- front and rear bulkheads
$15- hinge pins
$40- RPM a-arms
I've also broken the stock chassis braces, you might want to upgrade those for another $25. Other stuff that I highly recommend are the RPM bulkhead braces (buy these when you first get the truck, you may avoid breaking the stock bulks and save $50 over getting aluminum bulks). Also I got a sheet of 1/16" aluminum and cut out some skids for my truck. It really braced the bulks a lot better. If you want an easier solution a set of aluminum skids can be had for $25.
So all the parts including the items I suggested are: $230
That's a lot of money! I think you'd be much better off with the revo. Also the stock titans are complete junk. I would really recommend that you swap em out for a set of s-600 motors. They really perform a heck of a lot better and 2 of em are only $30 on tower. If you do a search of the RCU forums you'll find loads of posts comparing them to other motors and otherwise me or someone else babbling on about them! Good luck! : )
dang man, you're making me want to stay with my Stampede! [X(]
great post though, really a very unbiased well written post. thanks.
