RE: Cermark SPE 26CC any info
So maybe the power is hidden in there, somewhere, behind a new ignition system and carb, but, uh... $$ not a deal after all that.
I have two flying buddy's... both with identical Funtana 90's.
One has the spe, the other has a 120ax (that I broke-in and installed for him)
I dont know any other way to convey the comparison, so I'll spill it all.
- The spe makes ALOT of noise.
- The spe leaves no hover "head-room", its nearly maxed and slowly climbs out.
- The spe is more complicated.
- The spe was on its second ignition module before seeing air - it was replaced promptly by spe though.
- The spe is heavier.
- The spe is more expensive.
- The spe is clean.
- The 120 is filthy.
- The 120 is quiet.
- The 120 has far better power.
- The 120 drinks more fuel, but it performs well on cheap stuff (10-15%), and flight times were plenty long.
- The 120 fired and ran well on (I kid you not) the very first break-in chicken stick flip after being primed - I was stunned.
- The 120 mounted easily, was simple in all respects, and the muffler turned sideways for a perfect fit. (cool little 90deg adapter included)
- The 120 has yet to dead-stick.
- The spe has had 2 dead-sticks. Unknown cause. Uneventful, clean landings.
- The spe plane is lucky it has the better pilot (by far).
The guy with the spe is well informed and builds/has much larger gassers. His tune is good and his piloting is excellent.
He went with the spe because its cheap and he had the old 90s collecting dust and decided to try the little gasser.
It does fly ok and it is alot of fun, and sometimes the noise is even music to the ears, its just not really a good 3d machine. He is a bit disappointed in it, but not hating it.
All things considered (even fuel), the 120 is the way to go if you want the most power for the $$
The spe is the way to go if you want decent, clean, cheap-fueled power and dont care about hanging on the prop.
