Bob, my baffling is actually not simple, in just the fact that nobody does it that extensively. Most just put a plate in front and call it a day, or block off all air flow from the front so that it has to pass thru the side fins on the cylinder only.. In mine air passes through the front, top and back of the cylinders to exit. Most of the time a simple plate in front works, but I push mine pretty hard and temps can rise fast.
I do not know if it is proper or not to lengthen the leads on a venom temp gauge, I have with no ill affects.
The picture you posted is exactly the design of mine, when the cowl is placed on, it blocks the front just like mine.
