RE: Deadstick Landings
I have personally had 4 deadsticks. Im a new pilot, but I can tell you what caused each of them.
Deadsticks 1-3: I had just switched fuels and didnt get the engine tuned correctly, finally had help tuning. It still isnt perfect but its reliable so I live with it.
Deadstick 4: Started the flight after FINALLY getting her tuned, but didnt top up the tank before taking off, then I didnt start my timer for 3 or 4 minutes of flight. Final mistake: I knew I was low on fuel and still did a go around because my appraoch wasnt perfect. (Not necesarily bad, but dont pull up full power, climb gradually. I didnt.) This was the only deadstick of mine that caused damage and it was ALWAYS pilot error. I stalled climbing out of the landing for my go around and went in nose down, breaking the nose gear.
