RE: Deadstick Landings
The club that I used to belong to would not give a new student the green light to solo until they successfully completed a dead stick landing. "Successfully" being the operative word. Mine was not pretty but I brought it down in one piece. I didn't make it to the runway but it landed in the grass and was fine.
The point is that someday your engine WILL stop in flight. Either it will experience fuel starvation, too lean/rich, or you just flew longer than you that estimated and it ran out of fuel. I strongly suggest you practice dead stick landings in every plane you have in your hangars so you know how each will handle when it happens to you.
