Default Sky Fly Servo Problems

Help. I used to race R/C cars for several years (quite some time ago). I recently had an interest in getting into airplanes and after reading several reviews, purchased a Hobbico Sky Fly 1. It is supposed to have a range of 500 ft, from what I read, however.....

Upon taking it out for its maiden voyage, with the rudder and elevator trimmed and alligned, fresh batteries in the transmitter and a fully charged battery for the receiver and making sure all of the controls worked properly, I launched and 2 shaky seconds later took a nose dive.

Upon investigating the plane, I found that the servos that control the rudder and elevator were "twitching" sporatically and uncontrollably, without input from the transmitter. I should have done a range check first, then I would not have flown, but I did. I did a range check after the fact and found that the servos went crazy at just a little past fifty ft.

I tried adjusting the potentiometers and bought a replacement rechargeable battery and still no luck.

Doe anyone know what is wrong?

I appreciate your help. Thanks!
