different modes
I was taught Mode 1. Like it because first, the aileron and elevator inputs (most used) are separate and second, you learn to use rudder early on cause you are using that stick all the time for elevator.
With that said, the club I fly in is all Mode 2 (cepting me). I have tried to convert some flyers, but everyone is set in their ways.
Now, I am one of the club instructors, and have been for the last dozen years or so. I have no problems flying a trainer in the Mode 2 configuration. It does reinforce my feeling that Mode 1 is best for me.
Anyway, I'd recommend going with what everyone in the club does as you can end up getting more help that way.
