Larry you are too funny. That's great and all.. I was just statig my opinion on metal on metal. Why reinvent the wheel.. a coupler has worked for a long time and makes it easy to adjust length. You also need to think about the clamp that is being used... if the metal is expanding and contracting with the heat what about the clamp?
